Ariana Grande surprised the world by casually dropping a new single, Thank U Next, earlier this month. The tune details the trials and tribulations of her love life and quite frankly, we haven't stopped singing it.
Then, after much build-up and teasers, Ariana dropped the long-awaited music video over the weekend and it was certainly worth the wait.
Featuring cameos from Mean Girls' Aaron Samuels and Kris Jenner, the music video has been watched nearly 90m times since it dropped this weekend.
But what really got people talking was the subtle messages she left to her ex-boyfriends in the video. Inspired by Mean Girls, Ari had her very own Burn Book with a page dedicated to each ex.
In her page dedicated to Pete Davidson, her most recent ex who she ended her engagement with in October, Ariana wrote a brief apology, saying: "Sorry for dipping". She added that she'd "always" love him and also wrote "HUUUUUGE", which fans think was a saucy reference. The jury's still out.
There's also a homage to Big Sean, who she dated from August 2014 to April 2015, with the phrase: “So cute, so sweet (could still get it).”
Then there's a message for Ricky Alvarez, her backup dancer that she dated in 2015, alongside the phrases: “friends forever” and “great dancer”.
The video was released after week of teasing, sneak peeks and hints, including the epic trailer...
It kicked off with comedian Colleen Ballinger acting out a scene from Mean Girls, saying: "One time on Twitter, I heard Ariana was . So I got pregnant so we could be pregnant at the same time."
The next shot shows heartthrob Jonathan Bennett, who played Aaron Samuels in the 2004 movie, who says: "Ariana Grande told me my hair looked sexy pushed back. She's not wrong."
Then comes Stefanie Drummond, who played Bethany Byrd in the original film, who adds: "Ariana broke off an engagement, so I found a guy to propose to me and I broke off an engagement."
The final clip shows Courtney Chipolone, Ariana's real-life best friend, who concludes: "Ariana says honest to God knock me out. So I decided to punch myself in the face...it was awesome."
It was absolutely worth the wait.
