If you’re feeling a wee bit sad today, we get it. Our favourite characters, the ones who’ve stayed by our side for exactly nine years, eight seasons and through rather complicated, bloody times are no more. Goodbye Game of Thrones, we are mourning.
So, while some feel that the Game of Thrones season finale gave the characters a fitting ending, it seems there are also plenty of fans who are not impressed. At. All.
The sixth episode in the season concluded with the death of Daenerys Targaryen, which we all saw coming, Bran Stark be crowned king of Wesreros and the Iron Throne destroyed.
Meanwhile, Sansa Stark was crowned Queen in the North, Winterfell kept its independence making Bran ‘lord of the Six Kingdoms and the protector of the realm.’ So there you have it.
However, as hard as the show's writers (they call themselves 'show runners' but whatever) DB Weiss and David Benioff tried to tie everything up, fans are not happy, feeling that the without the novel’s George RR Martin behind the writing, the final season hasn’t matched up to previous seasons and instead, lost its way with disappointing storytelling and editing gaffes. Yep, we are not going to forget that misplaced Starbucks cup.
Some weren’t pleased about Bran’s sudden promotion, or the fact that they’d just wasted nine years of story investment.
Other’s said they got way more emotional than they expected to at Drogon’s reaction to the death of the Daerneys.
Referencing the heartbroken Dragon's decision to torch the Iron Throne, another fan wrote: 'DROGON SAID IF MY MOM CAN'T HAVE IRON THRONE NO ONE CAN. PERIOD.'
One fan summed up the mood for many sharing a clip from The Office (US addition) of Steve Carrell’s character Michael Scott yelling, “I’m going to kill myself" in frustration.[ id="1130378028788396038"]
With another sharing a meme to show how they felt GoT started compared to its ending. LOL.
So, what do you think? Was it a triumph or a massive let down? Share your thoughts on social media, we'd love to know!
