Hollywood's next big star.

Maya Hawke has joined the most talked about teen gang on Netflix right now as a star of Stranger Things season 3.

After waiting a year and a half for the third season of Stranger Things to launch, fans of the science-fiction show were doubly excited to see the introduction of new characters in the small town of Hawkins, such as Robin, Steve Harrington’s co-worker in the ice cream parlour in Starcourt Mall.

But who is Robin and why are we so excited about her in this new season?

Well for starters, let’s not ignore the obvious face that we have a shiny new female character being introduced into the main cast. Alongside Millie Bobby Brown’s character, Eleven, and Sadie Sink’s Max, Robin closes the gap between the number of male and female adolescents in the show.

On top of this, the internet is going crazy for Maya Hawke, the actress behind Robin’s character, who also happens to be the daughter of Hollywood actors Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke. The close resemblance between Hawke and her parents is impossible to ignore.

Having previously played Jo March in a 2017 BBC miniseries adaptation of Little Women, Hawke is no stranger to the television screen, yet her joining of the most popular teenage television gang has rocketed her into the spotlight.

Ethan Hawke is seriously proud of his daughter for her role in Netflix’s recently released Stranger Things 3. The 48-year-old Training Day actor, who shares Maya with Uma Thurman and was snubbed at this year’s Academy Awards alongside Toni Collette, publicly praised the 21-year-old in a gushing post on Instagram.

"Some of you may have missed her in last year’s BBC production of Little Women," Ethan wrote alongside a promo video her character Robin dressed in her Scoops Ahoy gear.

"Some of you may have missed her work at Juilliard. I know many missed out on numerous high school productions – heck I even missed a few and I’m her father. Some of you may know her music, some may not. But Ladies & Gentleman, get to know MAYA HAWKE. She’s the real thing."

We predict a bright future for Maya.
