Hola, my name’s Lisa and I’m a travel junkie - friends fully do the shock face when they see me back home in London. Luckily, I get to plane hop for work but there are some places I just keep going back to – and Ibiza’s way up there on the I-could-defo-live-here list. Yep, it does partying like no other, but there’s SO much more to the island than superstar DJs (soz, David Guetta). This year I took my Ibiza obsession to the extreme and spent half my summer there, living the dream in crochet cover-ups.
So, here I am giving GLAMOUR an insider Insta tour. These are the hotspots to head to for closing season. See you on the dancefloor (probably).
1. Pikes Hotel
Charge up your iPhone battery because this hotel is pure Instagram porn. Fuchsia pink tennis court, anyone? TBH, it was love before I even checked in when I found out it was the location for Wham!’s Club Tropicana video, aka best music vid, ever.
It’s pretty amaze knowing that George was singing on an inflatable in the hotel pool sipping on a martini… N.B. ‘drinks are (not) freeee’ - but there is an epic Club Tropicana cocktail for €15. By day, Pikes is like a hungover paradise with giant Silken Favours palm print cushions on sunbeds, but by night it turns in to an adult playground.
Think dining room decked out in disco balls, spinning wheel of fortune (Boomerang heeeaven), al fresco beds to sip cocktails, and unisex bathroom complete with v. apt neon Kate Moss quote: ‘Why the f*ck can’t I have fun all the time’.
2. Es Vedrà
One of the most magical places on the island (Sam and Tiff totes filmed an emosh heart-to-heart scene here on Made in Chelsea: Ibiza). Must-see Es Vedrà is said to be the third most magnetic spot on the planet - oooh. It’s a bitch to find and I broke a designer gladiator sandal on a rock but the epic views are totally worth it. Top tip: douse yourself in bug spray. I came, I Insta posed, and I left with mutant mosquito bites.
3. Experimental Beach Ibiza
Wanna know where all the beautiful people go in Ibiza? It’s HERE. Whoever the 'vibe manager' is (all cool places have one, right?) they have got it down. In a secluded spot in Las Salinas, there’s chill-out tunes and cabanas by day but the mood cranks up for sunset so book wayyy ahead if you want a seat for golden hour #instaglow. Also, ECC, you win for best cava sangria on the island (I did rigorous testing).
4. Blowout Ibiza
Meet the selfie saviour of Ibiza… This Playa d’en Bossa salon was my pre-partying pit-stop for blowouts, bareMinerals makeovers, and Fake Bake bronzing (aka 5am bedtime camouflage). I walked in looking all sweaty sea monster and strutted out feeling like J.Lo. FYI, take full advantage of the flower wall backdrop of dreams for your blowdry/updo shot.
5. Cala Conta beach
Beach hopping will forever be my fave thing to do in Ibiza (side note: not on a hangover). Located on the west side of the island, Cala Conta (Platges de Comte) isn’t the most secluded beach but it is insanely beautiful. Grab your brightest beach towel or parasol and pretend you’re part of a Slim Aarons scene. Head for sundowners and sushi at the beach’s famous Sunset Ashram.
6. B London Ibiza
Like stepping into an Ibiza cool girl’s closet. This boutique in Marina Botafoch has every hot-right-now resort wear/bikini brand under the sun - Marysia, PilyQ, Camilla, For Love & Lemons etc - that made me want to ditch my 27kg suitcase and start over. Décor envy alert: prepare to crush on the store hangout’s letter lightboxes and slogan cushions.
7. ME Hotel
And award for dreamiest chill-out hotel on the island goes to… ME. Located in Santa Eulalia, it’s surrounded by dinky yachts and 360 views of the ocean that make you wanna take pics using that weird pano setting. For hot tubs, open-air spa AND infinity pool, the top deck is where it’s at. Do not leave without trying the signature burrata cheese pizza. I wanted to marry it.
8. Hï Ibiza
Bye-bye Space, and Hï Ibiza. Last October, I went to the last ever Space closing fiesta and it was emotional. Hï is summer 17’s glossy new superclub that’s been built on Space’s iconic patch in Playa d’en Bossa. Main rooms aside, there’s a toilet clubroom with actual DJ booth (ob-ses-sed) and magical gardens with VIP tepees and tequila bar. Also, it’s 30 seconds across the road from pre-club-club so you can do a dancefloor double whammy without hailing a cab. Just don’t do heels, kids.
9. Tatel Ibiza
My marker of a good night? Failing to get a non-blurry Instagram shot… Cue the new Tatel restaurant at Hard Rock Ibiza. Hot violinists walk around playing to dance music as you dine so you end up seat sashaying (it’s a thing) while you’re still eating your pan con tomate and black cod. The cocktail bar is a thing of beauty and don’t even get me started on the bathrooms. Beyond c-h-i-c.
10. Sol House Mixed By Ibiza Rocks Rooftop Nine
Warning: do not go to this rooftop and drink Mai Thais and almost miss your flight (SO close). Located in San Antonio Bay, this decked terrace is the perf spot to watch the sunset from a height and get your pose on in the infinity pool. Expect guest DJs, dancing, and a dangerous cocktail menu that doesn’t cost a bomb.
11. Passion Café
Egg-o-clock. This little hangout needs to go on your radar for Ibiza hangover brunches (needed on the daily). Hands down the best avo on toast and rescue smoothies in town – plus, the muscly waiters serve you in quite small black vests. You’ll find Passions in Playa d’en Bossa, Marina, San Jose and Santa Eulalia.
12. Ocean Beach
Ibiza without an all-day-party is hardly Ibiza at all. Ocean beach has become an essential part of a holiday to the White Isle. It has crisp white beds with a huge pool which is perfect for a cooling dip while you sip your mojito out of one of their iconic orange cups.
13. Cafe Mambo
You really cannot go to Ibiza without witnessing the stunning sunset from Cafe Mambo. It's the perfect place to kickstart the night with dinner and drinks. It hosts world famous DJs and names like Fat Boy Slim, Martin Solveig and Radio 1 Ibiza Weekend.
14. Ushuaia Beach Hotel
The deluxe Beach Hotel is one of the biggest open-air clubbing experiences in the world with people travelling from all over Europe to visit. It’s a day party you really can’t miss, thanks to its major line-ups, VIP guests and Instagrammable visuals. ANTS is a homegrown Ushuaia party on Saturday’s, showcasing huge names in deep house and techno – you can morph into a true Ibiza baby here.
15. Paradise at DC 10
If you want to know where the Ibiza regulars go, it’s here. Paradise Wednesday’s at one of the most loved clubs on the island DC 10. Located not far from the airport, the experience is epic when you have world famous DJ Jamie Jones performing and planes flying low over the club.
16. La Torre Restaurant
Ibiza isn't always eat, sleep, rave repeat. So if you get a chance to relax one evening, head to in the San Antonio countryside. Surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, chill-out sunset beats and the most magical ocean horizon, will make you fall in love with Ibiza all over again.
