Whilst many of us are anticipating the cold weather inbound for the UK this week, the majority of fashion followers will be looking forward to saying that final goodbye to Winter.
We’ve been bundled into our cosiest jackets and boots for a number of months and it’s about time we had some sunshine and warmer weather to look forward to. Especially as this year, the colours of Spring are the brightest they’ve been for a long time. Living Coral - the Pantone shade of the season - says it all about what we can expect from Spring 2019, and with Turmeric, Pink Peacock and Aspen Gold sitting alongside it, we’re going to have the most colourful Spring to look forward to.
Yellow heels, jumpers and bags are already making their way onto online stores - and into my own closet - so if you’re someone that lives in black clothing, you may want to look away now. Or, maybe this is the season you come over to the bright side.
Nothing says cheerful like Aspen Gold - that sunburst yellow/orange that immediately makes you feel upbeat. If you’re someone who loves colour, then go all out with a full golden dress like this midi slip from Topshop or a fun mini from Michael Kors.
For something a little more everyday wear, pair a yellow gold blouse or jumper with your light blue denim or leather look trousers.
If you prefer to keep colours away from your face, then pair a white roll neck or boxy tee tucked into a fitted pair of yellow straight leg trousers. If you keep your shoes neutral too, the trousers won’t be as bright and brash as you think.
And if you are someone who loves to wear black, or often full white ensembles, then accessorise to your heart’s content. A backpack or a cross body in this tone of orange gold will pop against any monochrome outfit.
The colour of Spring 2019 is a soft coral with a golden undertone - the kind of colour tone you would often see in summer dresses and beautiful bikinis. But it’s being brought into every day wear in full force. Alike to the style advice for Aspen Gold, it will be fun to play around with layering and partnering this shade with your existing wardrobe of neutral tones. But don’t be afraid to throw in a complementary blue accessory if you’re feeling brave.
Think a bright, royal blue that will have you standing out in any crowd. Pair your princess blue heels with a living coral sweater or aspen gold trousers for the perfect complementary pieces, or go all out with a full maxi to fully embrace the colour.
If we didn’t already have enough colour in our Spring wardrobes, the trend setters have thrown in a bubblegum lilac pink. It’s sweet and sugary and many might feel it’s a little too youthful, but worn in the right way, you might find you were a pink lover all along.
The ultimate orange red - bright, fiery and almost neon, Fiesta is as statement as Princess Blue, for those who prefer their reds. But for those who shy away from something so brash, try a pair of heels to pair with your favourite jeans, or a fiesta red handbag with your black biker jacket.
Spring 2019 is definitely the year for experimenting with colour, so choose your favourite, or all of them if you wish, and go to town.
