We’ve waited 25 years for a series as relevant to our times as Cruel Intentions and it's FINALLY arrived! The Politician is the wildly anticipated Netflix series everyone is already talking about, and it's not even set for release until September 27th 2019.
In the first official trailer for the dark musical comedy created by Ryan Murphy, we are introduced to Payton Hobart, a wealthy student from Santa Barbara, California, who is convinced from a young age that he'll become President of the United States. In order to get there, he'll have to navigate the ruthless political landscape of his high school, and keep his squeaky clean image and morals intact whilst out-smarting his relentless peers. Through dark comedy and satire, this series offers a fascinating insight into the trials and tribulations of making it as a politician.
If you're not sold yet (seriously?), you're guaranteed to be enticed by the all-star cast. Pitch Perfect's Ben Platt will play the lead role of Hobart alongside his co-stars Lucy Boynton and Gwyneth Paltrow. Zoey Deutch, Jessica Lange and Bob Balaban will also be starring in the upcoming show. I mean, it doesn't get any better than that.
Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler's Murder Mystery beats Bird Box to draw in the biggest opening weekend ever for a Netflix film
Glee's Ian Brennan and Brad Falchuk (also Gwynnie's new hubby) will write and executive produce the series alongside Ryan Murphy. This is the first of many Netflix series we can expect from Murphy after he was poached from 20th Century Fox by Netflix in a reported $300 million dollar deal.
At the Time 100 Summit in April, the American screenwriter, director and producer announced he has 10 projects in the works at the streaming service: three documentaries, four TV shows and three movies. So it looks our Netflix addiction won't be slowing down anytime soon.
Given the massive hype surrounding the The Politician, it's guaranteed to be epic.
