Britney Spears was bought up in Louisiana, USA and began performing at an early age. She starred in The Mickey Mouse Club with Justin Timberlake, whom she later dated. In 1997 she signed to Jive Records and in 1999 released her first record, Baby One More Time, which proved a huge success.
Throughout the early Noughties, her career continued to grow but Britney's personal life became more and more fraught as time went on. These culminated in 2008 when she appeared to have a breakdown, shaving her head and being admitted into a psychiatric hospital. She returned to the spotlight in 2009 with a No 1 album and sell-out tour.
Britney has two children from her two-year marriage with dancer Kevin Federline. In December 2011, she confirmed her engagement with former manager Jason Trawick but the pair called it off in January 2013. Britney appeared as a judge on the second season on The X Factor USA and has produced nine albums in total. She has been in a Las Vegas residency most recently.
