Little Mix are a girl band, most famous for appearing on The X Factor 2011 and becoming the first ever girl group to make it through to the live finals - plus, the first group ever to win the whole competition.
Each was rejected as a solo act, but they were offered a lifeline by the judges and grouped together. Originally known as Rhythmix, they became known as Little Mix following a press campaign by a charity of the same name. Little Mix are widely credited for being 'normal' girls that ordinary teenagers can relate to - they garnered support, for example, when it was revealed that Jesy had been upset by cyber bullies targeting her about her weight. Mentor Tulisa Contostavlos has said of the girls' success in the competition: "You could see how genuine they were from the start and it didn't feel like a group of girls just put together... It's everything from the talent, to the friendship: it's real and it's something that's been missing." <span class="apple-converted-space">Little Mix's debut single, Cannonball, a Damien Rice cover, was released in December 2011.
Since then the band has won over audiences all over the world with huge hits like Wings, These Four Walls and Hair. The girls' style has also evolved a lot, from their colourful glittery days on the X Factor to the more contemporary overall look. Little Mix's song Shout Out To My Ex had everyone wondering if the lyrics are from Perrie to Zayn Malik after the couple broke up.
